In 2004, FIA undertook research on key issues impacting on the
legislation and regulation of fundraising. The principal research
findings focus on five main areas as follows:

Mutual recognition and national harmonisation
FIA’s research demonstrates the changing environment in which
fundraising occurs in contemporary society. Conclusions drawn from this

Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and the
Development Practice Advisory Committee (DPAC) commenced a process, in
conjunction with ACFID member NGOs, to identify, assess, and improve
