2013 Conference a resounding success

Fundraising's best and brightest gathered in Sydney as they Aspired to Greatness at the 36th International Fundraising Conference. This year saw a bumper Conference, with sessions jam-packed, the exhibition space expanded to accommodate more stands and Masterclass numbers increased to enable more people to attend.

ACNC Governance Standards Tabled in Parliament

Less than a month after receiving submissions, the ACNC Governance Standards have been tabled in Parliament, to take effect on 1 July 2013.


Royal Life Saving WA receives Highly Commended Award at National Fundraising Awards

Royal Life Saving Society WA (RLSSWA) is a public benevolent institution and aims to prevent the loss of life and promote safe participation in water related activities in WA. RLSSWA provides a range of water safety programs to the community.

The SA Code of Collection is now in place, having commenced last Friday 1 March 2013. The Code has been introduced after extensive consultation and FIA notes that most of the Code's requirements are already current practice and/or required in FIA's Principles and Standards of Fundraising Practice.

Vale Arthur Venn

One of the founding fathers of the Fundraising Institute Australia, Arthur Venn, passed away in his sleep last Friday 18 January in Melbourne. Arthur was a mentor to many fundraisers, a teacher, capital fundraising guru and a wonderful human being.

The ACNC is now open

The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) opened its doors as Australia's first national, independent regulator of the not-for-profit (NFP) sector on 3 December and was officially launched by the Assistant Treasurer, the Hon. David Bradbury MP at an event today.

Dame Elisabeth Murdoch dedicated her life to philanthropic activity. Dame Elisabeth was a Patron of the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and a life governor of the Royal Women's Hospital.
