Fundraising Essentials

Fundraising Essentials
is the ‘101’ of fundraising - a big picture overview with practical tools to help you hit the ground running.

Walk away with the knowledge and skills needed to negotiate the mass of fundraising information available, and run effective fundraising programs. Meet other new fundraisers, feel part of the sector and build your networks.

Delivered by experienced tutors who are also professional fundraisers - this is the perfect opportunity for you to draw on their experience and knowledge.

This one-day course includes:

1. Fundraising in Australia

Describes the big picture of fundraising in Australia, the role of the fundraiser and latest trends.

2. Law and Order

Outlines the key legislative and ethical responsibilities of fundraisers and non-profit organisations, including the Australian Privacy Principles.

3. Motivations, Methods and More!

Explores the major reasons people give, types of fundraising programs and the role of relationship building in fundraising.

4. Tools of the Trade

Covers how to develop a case for fundraising, the Fundraising Cycle and use of data to support fundraising.

5. Your People

Explores how to use fundraising models to understand and work with donors, prospects and other supporters.

“I think the Fundraising Essentials course covers everything a first time fundraiser needs to know and I would definitely recommend it to others. It helped me to gain a good understanding of basic fundraising principles, so I could hit the ground running in my role. It was great to learn from the knowledge and experience of someone who is actually working in the sector. The day also offered us networking opportunities with other fundraisers and it was eye-opening to hear what other charities do, and the daily struggles and triumphs they experience.

Since completing the course I feel like I have been able to implement and utilise the tools and learnings received to ensure that I act professionally, ethically and successfully as a fundraiser. Fundraising Essentials has helped my career immensely.”

Attendees also receive resources detailing key fundraising terms, where to find sector information, professional development options, and two credit units towards the Certificate in Fundraising.
